To 'know the *din* of the poor' means not merely to be aware of poverty but to comprehend the legal claim of the destitute — their right to justice as parties in a proceeding. The righteous man is depicted as an advocate who grasps the case on behalf of the *dallim* (the weak and lowly). This aligns with the prophetic vision of Isaiah 1 and Amos 5, where true piety is inseparable from defending the poor's legal standing.
