A door's motion is perpetual yet purposeless—it rotates but never advances. The *atsel* has movement (turning) but no progress; he is busy with the mechanics of rest. The image is both comic and damning: the sluggard is not dead, merely inert in a way that mimics activity. Both translations preserve the pivot-point irony; the economy of the Hebrew demands equally spare English.
