Three distinct types are addressed: *petayim* (the simple — open, unguarded, salvageable), *letsim* (scoffers/mockers — the most hardened, who actively ridicule wisdom), and *kesilim* (fools — the thickheaded and morally dull). These represent a spectrum from the innocently naive to the contemptuous mocker. The *lets* (scoffer) is particularly resistant to correction: Prov. 9:7–8 notes that rebuking a mocker earns only abuse. FOG preserves the texture of each Hebrew term; FOG Message draws out the emotional character of each type.
