παραβολευσάμενος τῇ ψυχῇ—appearing nowhere else in the NT—derives from παραβάλλω (to throw alongside, to stake) and was used in Greek for gambling or recklessly exposing oneself to danger. F.O.G uses "hazarding" (from the French hasard, a dice game) to preserve the etymological sense of staking something of value with deliberate recklessness; F.O.G Message uses "gambling" for its visceral, reckless-courage force. This final ψυχή reference closes the chapter's deliberate soul-vocabulary thread: σύμψυχοι (v.2) → εὐψυχῶ (v.19) → ἰσόψυχον (v.20) → ψυχῇ (v.30). The chapter that opened calling the community to be "one-souled" ends with a man who staked his very soul for the gospel.
