The *Mishkan* (מִשְׁכָּן) is the 'dwelling-place' from the root *shakan* — to dwell, to settle, to abide among. This root is theologically explosive: it underlies the rabbinic concept of the *Shekinah* (the manifest divine presence), and its Greek equivalent *skenoo* (to tabernacle) appears in John 1:14 — 'the Word became flesh and tabernacled among us.' FOG preserves *Mishkan* to keep this root audible for the attentive reader; FOG Message uses 'tabernacle,' which carries the same resonance for readers familiar with the New Testament. The cloud that covered the Mishkan is the same pillar that led Israel out of Mitzrayim — YHWH's presence is portable, faithfully journeying with His people through every wilderness.
