The Hebrew *beha'alotekha* ("when you cause to ascend") gives this entire Torah portion its name — *Parashat Beha'alotecha*. The verb *'alah* means to rise or cause to rise; practically, the priest raised the wicks to draw oil and burn cleanly toward the front face of the Menorah. FOG preserves the literal physical image of "raising up," honouring the priestly act of elevation; FOG Message opts for the natural English "light," drawing out the theological resonance of lamp-kindling as priestly proclamation of divine radiance. The seven-branched Menorah shining forward before YHWH foreshadows the seven spirits of God in Revelation 4:5 — fullness of light, facing outward into the world.
