*Yokheved* (*Jochebed*) is one of the rare women explicitly named within a priestly genealogical record, and her name contains the divine element *Yah* — a name honouring YHWH, given to a woman in slavery. She bore the priestly line (Aharon), the prophetic-leadership line (Moshe), and the prophetess Miryam — the three pillars of the Exodus redemption (Micah 6:4). The detail that she was born *in Mitzrayim*, in the very house of bondage, makes her the embodiment of grace: the deliverer's mother was shaped by the very captivity her children would end.
