The phrase *mēʿălôt haššaḥar ʿad ṣēʾt hakkôkābîm* ("from the ascent of the dawn until the going-out of the stars") is vivid Hebrew poetry for the longest possible working day—every hour of light and beyond. *Šaḥar* (dawn) is the same word used of the morning star and, in Isaiah 14:12, of the hubris of fallen Babylon. The workers' dawn-to-starlight endurance stands as a quiet counter-testimony to any claim that the work is dying. FOG renders this literally; FOG Message uses "first light" and "stars came out" for natural, visceral English.
