He works from a personal encounter with Jesus first, then draws on the scholarship of respected Jewish and Christian scholars — because the church was Jewish before it was anything else, and those roots change everything about how you read Scripture.

Footnotes

The verb *hēper* ("frustrated, broken, annulled") is the word used for breaking a covenant or overthrowing a plan—it is decisive and total. Elohim acts not through dramatic intervention but through disclosure: the enemies' plot simply becoming known is itself the divine act. FOG keeps the subject clause close to the Hebrew syntax ("Elohim had frustrated"). FOG Message renders *hēper* as "shattered" to give the theological point its full weight—God's counter-move is not incremental; it is total annulment.
