בִּכּוּרִים ('first-ripe figs') are the early summer figs — highly prized, soft, and easily knocked loose. This image is deliberately ironic: what appears most valuable and potent (a great fortress, a ripe prize fig) falls at the slightest touch. The simile also carries a note of bitter satisfaction — Nineveh's 'fruit' falls directly into the enemy's mouth, feeding those she sought to resist.
