The imperatives קָרְחִי וָגֹזִי (qarchi vagozi) are feminine singular, addressed to Daughter Zion/Jerusalem as a bereaved mother. נֶשֶׁר (nesher) can mean both 'eagle' and 'griffon vulture'—in a mourning context where the image is of a strikingly bald head, the griffon vulture whose bare crown is distinctively prominent is arguably the more precise and viscerally appropriate referent. F.O.G uses 'eagle' following the traditional rendering; F.O.G Message opts for 'vulture' as the contextually sharper image. גָלוּ (galu, 'they have gone') is a prophetic perfect—the exile stated as already accomplished to underscore its absolute certainty.
