κρασπέδου ("fringe/hem") in a Jewish context almost certainly refers to the tzitzit — the fringed tassels commanded in Numbers 15:38–39, worn as a sign of covenant obedience. For this ritually unclean woman to reach for the tzitzit of a Torah-observant teacher is an act of desperate faith embedded in covenant symbolism: she is not merely touching cloth but grasping for the visible sign of YHWH's Word. F.O.G preserves "tzitzit"; F.O.G Message renders "fringe" for accessibility.
