ἀνακειμένου describes formal table-reclining — the festive posture of a Greco-Roman banquet or Jewish celebratory meal. In first-century Jewish culture, to share this posture was to extend table-fellowship, a loaded act of social and ritual inclusion; the P'rushim understood immediately what it meant.
