Naos refers specifically to the inner sanctuary — the Temple building proper — as distinct from hieron, the entire Temple precinct including courts and colonnades. F.O.G renders it "Sanctuary" to preserve this precision; F.O.G Message uses the more familiar "Temple." The Pharisaic tradition being critiqued here reflects actual halakhic debate recorded in Mishnah Nedarim and Shevuot about the binding force of various oath formulae — real discussions that Yeshua exposes as catastrophically missing the point.
