Psalm 8:2 in Hebrew reads עֹז יִסַּדְתָּ (ōz yissadtā) — "strength/power You have established." The LXX, which Matthew quotes, reads αἶνον κατηρτίσω (ainon katērtisō) — "praise You have prepared/perfected." Matthew deliberately uses the LXX rendering, transforming the children's shouts into divinely appointed praise. FOG renders "ordained" to capture YHWH establishing something decreed; FOG Message uses "perfected" (the literal force of κατηρτίσω, to make complete or fit) to suggest that in this moment the children's shouts bring praise to its intended fullness.
