Ekklēsia (ἐκκλησία): In the LXX this word translates qahal—the covenant assembly of Israel—and in a Second Temple Jewish context would have been heard as "the congregation," not yet an institutional "church." The F.O.G uses "kehillah" (the living Hebrew word for community/congregation) to preserve that Jewish communal sense. The F.O.G Message uses "church" as the established term for the covenantal assembly Yeshua is now reconstituting around Himself. Notably, treating the unrepentant as "a Gentile and tax collector" is ironic given that Jesus Himself ate with tax collectors—the posture toward such a person ultimately calls for renewed outreach, not permanent exclusion.
