σεληνιάζεται (selēniazetai) literally means 'moonstruck' — from selēnē (moon) — the standard Greco-Roman medical descriptor for epileptic-type seizures, thought to be triggered or intensified by the lunar cycle. Luke's parallel (9:39) identifies the cause as a spirit causing convulsions; Matthew uses the popular medical term his audience would immediately recognise as a severe, recurring condition. FOG retains 'moonstruck' to honour the ancient cosmological-medical framework of the original audience; FOG Message uses 'seizures' to convey the clinical reality without the obsolete lunar causation.
