The Greek kunaria (κυνάρια) is the diminutive of kuōn (dog) — "little dogs" or "puppies," suggesting household pets rather than scavenging street dogs. "Dogs" was a standard sharp Jewish designation for Gentiles; the diminutive softens the register slightly. F.O.G preserves "little dogs" to capture this nuance; F.O.G Message uses "dogs" to retain the stark rhetorical force that the woman then brilliantly subverts.
