ἀπόστολος (apostolos) = "sent one." F.O.G uses "sh'lichim" (שְׁלִיחִים), the Hebrew/Aramaic term for commissioned agents sent with the full legal authority of the sender—in Jewish law, a sh'liach is legally equivalent to the one who sent him, making this list far more than a register of helpers.
