"μόδιον" (modion) is not a generic basket but a specific Roman dry-measure vessel holding approximately 8.75 litres, used to measure grain in a household context. The image is deliberately incongruous and almost comic: who hides a lamp under the very thing used to measure out daily bread? The F.O.G renders it "grain-measure" to preserve the domestic precision and the absurdity of the image; the F.O.G Message uses "bowl," prioritising the accessible contrast of hiddenness and disclosure for modern readers over the culturally specific object.
