"Σατανᾶς" is a Greek transliteration of the Hebrew/Aramaic שָׂטָן (sāṭān), meaning "the Adversary" or "the Accuser" — a prosecutorial figure in Second Temple Jewish cosmology (cf. Job 1–2; Zechariah 3:1; 1QS from Qumran). The F.O.G uses "HaSatan" (the Hebrew definite article + title: "the Adversary") to retain the forensic, combative weight of the original and its Jewish theological world; the F.O.G Message uses the familiar English "Satan."
