καλέσαι — "to call" — carries the weight of a formal summons or prophetic invitation (cf. Isa 42:6; 49:1), not casual companionship. Yeshua/Jesus has not accidentally found Himself among sinners; He has come on a purposeful mission to summon them. "The righteous" may carry gentle irony — not denying that genuine righteousness exists, but noting that those who consider themselves self-sufficient cannot receive a call addressed to the desperate.
