Footnotes
γῆν (gen) can mean the land of Israel or the whole earth. FOG retains "land" to preserve the echo of the plague-darkness over Mitzrayim in Exodus 10:21–22, one of the Exodus typologies running beneath the Passover narrative; FOG Message likewise uses "land" but draws out the full weight of cosmic mourning the darkness announces.
