γενεά ("generation") most naturally and consistently in Greek usage refers to the people alive at the time of speaking — roughly a 40-year span in OT reckoning (Numbers 32:13). Some interpreters extend it to mean "race / people" or "this type of age," but those readings strain normal Greek usage. The double negative οὐ μή is the strongest form of negation in Greek, expressing absolute certainty. Both versions render it "generation" without qualification, trusting the reader to reckon with the plain-sense meaning within its first-century horizon.
