ἐκολόβωσεν ("cut short") literally means to mutilate or amputate — a visceral word for violent truncation. κύριος ("Lord") here renders the Hebrew יהוה (YHWH), which F.O.G makes explicit. σάρξ ("flesh") encompasses all embodied life — F.O.G renders it "no flesh" in the raw biblical idiom while F.O.G Message uses "no living being" for clarity. ἐκλεκτούς ("chosen / elect") carries the full weight of Israel's election language (Isaiah 65:9, 22), extended in the New Covenant to all who belong to the Messiah; F.O.G Message adds "personally" to ἐξελέξατο to make that sovereign initiative felt.
