ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν (Amen legō hymin, 'Truly I say to you') is Yeshua's uniquely authoritative formula — no rabbi spoke this way; they always cited prior authorities. Yeshua pronounces on His own authority, as one who sees what others cannot see. The declaration reverses the entire economy of honour: greatness is measured not by the amount given but by the cost to the giver.
