καιρός (kairos) — "appointed time / proper season," carrying more weight than casual chronological "time." Mark's aside that "it was not the kairos for figs" is not an apology for Yeshua's action but an interpretive signal: in the fig tree's typical growth cycle, small proto-figs (known in Arabic as taqsh) appear before or alongside the first leaves, so a leafy tree in early spring would normally bear at least some early edible fruit. This tree displayed the visible sign of readiness without the substance — the precise indictment Yeshua has just made by surveying the Temple (v. 11). The curse is a living parable enacted in botanical form, not an impulsive reaction to disappointment.
