βαπτιστής (baptistēs) — "the one who immerses/baptises." The Greek verb βαπτίζω means to dip, plunge, or immerse. FOG renders the title "the Immerser" to make the physical and ritual act explicit; FOG Message retains "the Baptist" as the conventional English designation.
