Footnotes
Luke uses nomodidaskaloi (νομοδιδάσκαλοι) — literally "law-teachers" — a term unique to him among the evangelists, equivalent to the grammateis (scribes) found in Matthew and Mark. The FOG renders it "Torah teachers" to preserve the specifically covenantal context. The editorial note "the power of the Lord was present to heal" (dynamis Kyriou ēn eis to iasthai) is Luke's deliberate signal: what follows is not coincidence or medical curiosity but a demonstration of God's authority in action.
