peirazomenos is a present participle indicating testing occurring continuously across all forty days — not only at the three discrete encounters Luke records. F.O.G uses "tested" to foreground the typological echo of Israel being tested in the wilderness (Deuteronomy 8:2), while F.O.G Message uses "tempted" to emphasise the adversarial pressure. diabolos means "slanderer" or "false accuser" in Greek; F.O.G renders it "the Adversary" to preserve its Hebraic forensic flavour.
