ἀκαταστασίας (akatastasias) = civil disorder, insurrections, political upheaval — not merely "wars" (polemos) but the social breakdown that accompanies them. The same word appears in 1 Corinthians 14:33 for assembly disorder; here it evokes a world unravelling at its structural seams, the kind of chaos that makes people assume the end has arrived.
