The Greek δεδικαιωμένος is a perfect passive participle of δικαιόω—"having been declared righteous"—the same forensic verb Paul deploys for justification by faith (Rom 3:24; Gal 2:16). Luke 18:14 is one of the gospel's clearest pre-Pauline articulations of imputed righteousness: the man contributes nothing meritorious yet is pronounced righteous from outside himself. The FOG renders "declared righteous" to preserve the forensic-legal register; the FOG Message uses "justified," allowing the full Pauline-covenantal resonance to surface for readers who know where this language will travel in the epistles.
