teknon (τέκνον) = "child" — an affectionate, familial address. Even in judgment, Abraham's tone is paternal rather than dismissive, adding a layer of pathos: the rich man is not denied covenant kinship in theory but is separated from its blessings by a chasm shaped by his own life's choices.
