Lazaros (Λάζαρος) is the Greek form of the Hebrew Elʿāzār (אֶלְעָזָר) = "God has helped" or "El has come to his aid" — the only named character in any parable Jesus tells, making his naming deliberate and theologically loaded; the unnamed rich man turns out to have no name that endures, while the name of the one "God helped" is known forever. The FOG preserves the Hebrew form El'azar; the FOG Message uses the familiar English form while carrying the meaning forward in the narrative.
