Three layers of significance converge here. First, edei (ἔδει, "it was necessary/ought") is Luke's word for divine compulsion — the same necessity used of the Messiah's suffering — making this healing not optional but divinely ordained. Second, thygatera Abraam ("daughter of Abraham") is a full covenant-identity declaration, claiming her as a rightful heir of the promises. Third, lythēnai ("to be loosed") deliberately echoes lysas/luō used for untying the animals (v.15) — Yeshua frames her liberation with the exact same release-language, making the lesser-to-greater argument (animals vs. a covenant daughter) irrefutable by its own internal logic.
