מִחוּץ לַמַּחֲנֶה (michutz lamachaneh)—"outside the camp." The sin-bearing carcass—already bled out, already yielding its fat to YHWH—is expelled to a "clean place" (טָהוֹר, tahor) outside the camp to be wholly consumed. The Letter to the Hebrews (13:11-13) draws this explicitly: Jesus suffered "outside the gate" as the ultimate sin offering carried outside the camp. The paradox—a clean place that receives the unclean burden—foreshadows the holy bearing the unholy on behalf of all.
