נֶפֶשׁ קִנְיַן כַּסְפּוֹ (nephesh qinyan kaspow) — "a being purchased with his silver" — designates a slave acquired by purchase. The granting of sacred-food access to the purchased slave but not the hired worker reflects the ancient distinction between belonging through permanent bond versus temporary contract. Typologically: access to the holy comes through belonging, not earning.
