*Cheref nafsho lamut* — 'who scorned/exposed their throat/life to death.' *Nephesh* here is the throat, the breath, the entire self — not an abstract 'soul.' To 'scorn the nephesh to death' is to offer one's whole being with contempt for self-preservation. This stands as the moral climax of the tribal roll-call. Significantly, Zebulun and Naphtali are the very tribes Isaiah 9:1-2 identifies as first to receive Messianic light — a typological resonance between their costly faithfulness here and their future dawn. FOG uses 'scorned their very lives'; FOG Message uses 'staked their very lives.'
