The irony of Sisera's command runs deep: he positions Ya'el as his protector — making her his sole security — while she is already his executioner. His question *hayesh poh 'ish* ('Is there a man here?') will in moments receive a grim answer: the 'man' in question is about to cease to be. The text's restraint — no hint of Ya'el's intent — keeps the reader suspended alongside Sisera in a false sense of safety.
