But when the judge died, they would relapse—acting more corruptly than their ancestors—chasing after other gods, serving and worshipping them. They would not let go of their stubborn practices or their unyielding ways.
But when the shofet died, they would turn back and behave more corruptly than their fathers—going after other elohim, serving and bowing down to them. They did not drop any of their deeds or their hard, stubborn ways.
And it came to pass, when the judge was dead, that they returned, and corrupted themselves more than their fathers, in following other gods to serve them, and to bow down unto them; they ceased not from their own doings, nor from their stubborn way.
But when the judge died, the Israelites became even more corrupt than their fathers, going after other gods to serve them and bow down to them. They would not give up their evil practices and stubborn ways.
