The five men pressed on and came to Laish. There they saw the people living in security, after the custom of the Sidonians — quiet and unsuspecting, with no one to threaten them, prosperous and content. They were far from Sidon and had no dealings with anyone.
The five men went on and came to Layish. They saw the people there — dwelling secure, after the manner of the Tzidonians, quiet and trusting, with no one in the land to trouble them; a people possessing wealth, far from Tzidon with no dealings with anyone.
Then the five men departed, and came to Laish, and saw the people that were therein, how they dwelt careless, after the manner of the Zidonians, quiet and secure; and there was no magistrate in the land, that might put them to shame in any thing; and they were far from the Zidonians, and had no business with any man.
So the five men departed and came to Laish, where they saw that the people were living securely, like the Sidonians, quiet and unsuspecting. There was nothing lacking in the land and no oppressive ruler. And they were far away from the Sidonians and had no alliance with anyone.
