*Beit Elohim* (בֵּית אֱלֹהִים) can be rendered "house of God" — capturing Micah's sincere but misdirected self-understanding — or "house of gods," exposing its idolatrous character. FOG preserves the Hebrew divine name to hold the ambiguity open; FOG Message uses "God" to reflect Micah's own framing. The *ephod* (אֵפוֹד) was both a priestly garment and a divinatory instrument (cf. 1 Sam. 23:9–12). *Teraphim* (תְּרָפִים) are household ancestor-figures associated with divination and inheritance rights — Rachel steals Laban's for a reason (Gen. 31:19). The phrase *male' et-yad* (מִלֵּא אֶת-יָד), literally "filled the hand," is the precise technical term for priestly ordination throughout the Torah (Ex. 28:41; 29:9; Lev. 8:33). Micah performs this sacred Aaronic rite over his own son — a complete usurpation of both the Levitical prerogative and the Aaronic order.
