He works from a personal encounter with Jesus first, then draws on the scholarship of respected Jewish and Christian scholars — because the church was Jewish before it was anything else, and those roots change everything about how you read Scripture.

Samson's sole request — that his own countrymen not be the ones to harm him — reveals both his profound solitude and his personal code. He will allow himself to be bound; he will not fight Israelites. The oath he demands (*hishāba'û lî*) invokes YHWH as guarantor in a covenant pledge. This is not cowardice but strategic compliance — he knows the Ruach will act at Lechi. The willing binding by his own people, surrendered to Gentile authority, carries a typological freight the New Testament would find deeply resonant.
