*Avur ha'aretz* ("produce of the land") signals a turning point. The specific foods — *matzot* (unleavened bread) and *qalui* (roasted grain) — are both associated with the first fruits of harvest and with Passover practice, binding the meal to the feast just celebrated. The land is feeding its people for the first time; the wilderness chapter is closing before the conquest chapter has even opened. FOG's "on that very day" preserves the emphasis of *be'etzem hayom hazeh*, a phrase used elsewhere for moments of precise, momentous fulfilment (cf. Gen. 7:13; Exod. 12:41).
