This is only the third recorded Passover in Israel's history: the first in Egypt (Exod. 12), the second at Sinai (Num. 9:1–5), and now this one at the threshold of the land. Each marks a covenant transition — from slavery to exodus, from wandering to Sinai, and now from wilderness to inheritance. Crucially, Passover is kept *before* the conquest begins: the feast precedes the battle, grounding Israel's confidence in redemption already accomplished rather than victory yet to be won. The pattern anticipates the New Covenant dynamic where the Lamb is slain before the kingdom is entered.
