The tenth day of the first month (Nisan 10) is precisely the date of Exod. 12:3, when every Israelite household was commanded to select its Passover lamb — four days before slaughter on the fourteenth. Israel enters the promised land on Passover-lamb-selection day, exactly forty years after the first Exodus. The detail is not incidental: the narrator frames the entire conquest as a second and completing Exodus, consummated when Israel keeps the Passover at Gilgal four days later (Josh. 5:10-11). The Jordan crossing is simultaneously the final act of the Exodus and the opening act of the inheritance — the calendar itself is a theological argument. Both FOG and FOG Message preserve the date without elaboration, trusting the reader's Torah memory to hear the resonance.
