This verse is simultaneously a tribute and a warning. Faithfulness is tethered to living memory: once the eyewitnesses die, the next generation—as Judges 2:10 devastatingly records—'did not know Yahweh nor the work He had done for Israel.' The book of Joshua closes at its spiritual high-water mark, but the shadow of Judges already falls across this epitaph. Covenant vitality requires not only memory but transmission—precisely why Yehoshua wrote the covenant in a book and raised a stone at Shekhem. FOG renders 'the deeds of YHWH'; FOG Message uses 'every great work' to emphasise the unified, singular act of redemption held in living memory.
