The reference to Judah touching Naphtali at the Jordan is geographically difficult—Judah's territory does not border Naphtali. Some scholars emend to a reference to Transjordanian tribal settlements; others read it as a loose reference to Judah's broader political sphere. Both FOG and FOG Message translate the MT as it stands, leaving the tension unresolved rather than smoothing it away with a conjectural emendation.
