The identification of *HaYevusi* (הַיְבוּסִי, 'the Jebusite [city]') as Yerushalayim is one of the most momentous parenthetical notes in the entire book. The city is assigned to Binyamin here and yet falls on the contested Yehuda-Binyamin border (cf. 15:63, where Yehuda fails to dislodge the Yevusites). It will remain under Jebusite control until David captures it and makes it the City of David (2 Sam. 5:6–9) — associated with Yehuda's king though technically within Binyamin's allotment. The tension is unresolved by cartography; it awaits a king who transcends tribal boundaries. FOG uses 'Yerushalayim' and 'Yevusite' to honour the Hebrew and hint at the city's contested, layered identity; FOG Message uses 'Jerusalem,' the name that carries the full freight of Messianic expectation and ultimate redemption.
