The sons of Joseph had multiplied into two tribes—Manasseh and Ephraim—keeping the sacred count at twelve. The Levites received no land allotment, only towns to live in and pasturelands for their flocks and herds.
For the sons of Yosef had become two tribes—Menashe and Efrayim—and no portion in the land was given to the Levites, except towns to dwell in, with their pasturelands for their livestock and herds.
